A Message from the Head.

It was apparent from the moment I stepped into the front hall for the first time: this place has something special. The fire was roaring, but the welcome was warmer. The children I met looked me in the eye - they were confident, articulate and proud of their school.

Six years later and I have not been disappointed. Moor Park is a place where people matter, where children are valued and feel secure. They are encouraged to take responsibility for their own destinies at an early age, with an understanding that mistakes will be made - and so learning happens. This is a place that is informal, where the rapport between pupils and staff is based on mutual respect, yet it is also a place of purpose and high expectation. We are privileged to live and work in such beautiful surroundings, but more fortunate still that this is a happy place - more like a home in which learning happens. You will feel it too: we look forward to welcoming you!

Academic

Nearly 100 scholarships in ten years - to a huge variety of senior schools: academic, artistic, musical, sporting. There is no Moor Park 'type', thus an important part of our job is matching child to senior school, and the record of success is second to none.Classes are small with the overall pupil / staff ratio being approximately 9:1. Focus is on individual development, whether it be by the learning support department or the scholarship group in Year 8. We hope that, by the time a child leaves Moor Park, she or he is capable of managing - and taking responsibility for - time and work.

Pastoral Care - A Happy School

In any school (or workplace), happiness means achievement, confidence and performance. The Moor Park community is cheerful, happy and open, dedicated to providing a secure, caring environment for the children. We look for the best in every child and believe we can offer something special.

A good school offers children a rehearsal for adult life, in a community in which few mistakes are irredeemable. We provide an environment in which children are encouraged to have a go, safe in the knowledge that if (when!) they fall, they will be helped up, dusted off and guided on their way. Our atmosphere and ethos, based on our Catholic roots (over half our pupils are from other communions) is one of happiness, from the stability of a proper discipline, one without oppression: self-discipline. In growing up, children should learn acceptance (a far more positive word than tolerance) and that difference should be respected.
