Staff are in the classroom to welcome children with a smile from 0815. The school day officially starts at 0845. Children may choose to read with the form teacher, play an educational game on the computer, role play in the 'home corner' or enjoy puzzles and games with their peers. First on the formal agenda is Year Group Prayers with the form teachers when there might be a bible story or Circle Time. The rest of the morning is spent on Literacy and Numeracy with a thirty minute charge around the playground in the middle.
A cooked lunch is enjoyed by all the children in the main dining-room and form teachers sit with their charges encouraging good table manners. The playground is again busy for half an hour before the afternoon session begins. This may involve PE/games/swimming, topic work, art and craft, ICT, music, ballet, French along with other areas of the curriculum.
The school day finishes at 1530. At this point, some children go home while many (especially those who have siblings in the Upper School) take advantage of our popular After School Club which is open until 1830. Year 2 children also have other activities such as beavers, sport, art and cooking - especially in the summer term, in preparation for the longer day in Year 3.
