Extra-Curricular Activities

At Moor Park we offer all kinds of extra-curricular activities designed to stretch young minds and bodies. Quality and breadth are the key principles that underpin the extra-curricular programme at the school and pupils have the chance to try their hand at a wide range of activities.

The aim of the activity programme is:

  • to nurture individual strengths.
  • to allow a child to shine and show their ability outside of the classroom.
  • to find out what children can do.
  • to find something to boost every child’s self esteem and confidence.
  • to be purposeful.

The Extra-curricular programme is split up between Activities and Clubs.

In the Clubs children learn new skills and work towards planned goal. Therefore the Clubs require a greater commitment from the children and, unlike the Activities, they are not be able to swap a Club during the term.

Activities are a good opportunity for children to interact with peers from other Year Groups, to do some physical exercise, practice some sport or doing something more relaxing after a long day as well as an opportunity to see their teachers in a different context, which contributes to the excellent relationship staff and children develop at Moor Park; this is, we believe, what makes us so different and unique.

Junior Activities (Year Three, and Year Two in the Summer term) take place every day between 4.25 pm and 5.10 pm. Senior activities (Year Four to Year Eight) take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays between 5.10pm and 6.00 pm.

Ideally we like children to attend a mixture of Clubs and Activities, especially if they are going to stay at school until 6.00pm 3 or 4 times a week and we advise parents to discuss with their child their choices of Clubs and Activities before they sign up for it at the end of each term for the following term. Sometimes specialist teachers are required and a range of specialists come to school to boost our programme. A selection of the large number of activities which are or have recently been offered is shown below.
