Exam Information, Revision Topics and Resources
English
Year 7 pupils will be sitting one half of the 13+ Common Entrance in English. They will attempt Paper I which consists of a comprehension passage and a poem. Pupils will be asked questions on both the passage and the poem and will be expected to analyse and evaluate what they read. Considerable weight will be given to pupils' spelling, punctuation and grammar.Maths
Both sets will be taking ISEB 13+ papers. CE Paper I is an non-calculator paper. CE Paper III is a calculator paper.You will need a calculator for the second paper (obviously!), and all the usual equipment for both papers, including a protractor and a compass!

French
Your speaking test will take place during the week after half-term. Revise your speaking booklet.(You can download one if you have lost it). Revision in your speaking booklet will also be useful for the writing exam. Revise the perfect tense (you can use worksheet Vocab 2 Livre 2 on the French page of the school website.)

Latin
Set 1The exam will be a level 2 Common Entrance paper. It will be very helpful if you know the following in particular, although in an ideal world you would know all the topics!
a) as much Level 2 vocabulary as possible. I do appreciate you will not know it all - sensible guesses are a sign of a scholar!
b) grammatical terms - pages 1,2 of your small blue book
c) Level 1 nouns - rex, opus
d) the 5 tenses - present, imperfect, perfect, pluperfect, future
e) imperatives and infinitives
f) regular and irregular comparison of adjectives
g) the pronouns - ego, tu, nos, vos
h) the demonstrative pronouns - is, hic, ille
Set 2
The paper will be a mixture of learning work and translation. If you can recite anything that you have been tested on, you should get at least 50%!
In particular, learn or know the following:
a) nouns on vocabulary sheet
b) verbs on vocabulary sheet
c) puella, servus, bellum nouns table
d) the 4 conjugations in the present tense; amo, moneo, rego, audio + sum
e) prepositions on vocabulary sheet
f) the adjective bonus
g) cardinal and ordinal numbers
h) the last question will ask you to write about any of the ancient Rome topics you have studied. You must learn at least one; i.e. the amphitheatre, slavery, gladiators.
Geography

The examination will be 60 mins comprising of one essay (broken into two parts) and four evidence questions. Please see the History web site for further details.
Religious Studies
These are the key topics!1. The sacraments; especially the Eucharist, Baptism and Reconcilation
2. The Mass (its structure and connection to the Passover). The Mass as the foundation of Catholic life.
3. The crucial importance of the Resurrection
4. The liturgical year- study in particular Advent, Lent and Holy Week
5. Mary; her role in the life of Christ and the Church: The Marian feats: Immaculate Conception and Assumption: Know how and why people pray the Rosary.
