Tick Tock is an accredited ‘Sing and Sign’ nursery. In May 2018, we were awarded the center of excellence award. Baby signing sessions are part of everyday interactions with our littlest children, aiding them in developing their pre-verbal communication and also part of circle time sessions with our Butterfly children.
Mrs Minogue runs a music sessions on a Wednesday morning. Mrs Minogue is an accomplished musician playing both the double bass and piano, having trained at a specialist music school from an early age. The main emphasis is on learning through fun, from relaxed multi-sensory activities for our youngest children, to more high energy, action packed sessions for our older children. They enjoy learning action songs, playing circle games with parachutes, singing songs with puppets, tapping drums and shaking shakers with the group.
Mr Glyn Harrhy runs our sports sessions for all children in the Butterfly Room. These take place on a Thursday morning.
Our Sports Stars programme introduces the basics of movement “shapes” to the children and the ‘ABC’s’ of any sport; Agility, Balance, Coordination and Speed. This is all created in an environment where children will learn to see exercise as fun and be gently introduced to competition and how they learn to manage winning and losing.
Dance sessions are for the children in the Butterfly Room. They are taught by Mrs Leianne Bates, Principle of Insteps Dance Academy in Ludlow, who has years of experience at running dance classes for children of all ages. Mini Movers sessions take place on a Tuesday morning and are a fun introduction to moving to music.
These sessions take full advantage of the beautiful grounds at Moor Park and especially our wonderful Woodland School site, with its bamboo dens and campfire areas. We have also have an outdoor learning area developed especially for our little people, which is situated not too far from their rooms. The majority of sessions take place on Mondays and Friday but our aim is to try to allow all children to access Woodland School regularly. The majority of the Early Years staff have undertaken training in Outdoor Education provision through Sam Goddard at Rooted Forest Schools. Our Outdoor Education Programme is led by Alex Powell, who has undertaken her Level 2 qualification in Outdoor Learning during late 2017.
