Dance
Dance is taught by Mrs Leianne Bates, Principle of Insteps Dance Academy, and starts from our early years. Dance is great for releasing pent-up energy, which in turn has a calming effect on children. Because dance such as ballet uses the full range of muscles, it's also great for cognitive functions such as coordination and concentration.
Mini Movers
A fun-based dance and movement class where children from Nursery, Kindergarten and Reception develop co-ordination, balance, musicality and enjoy being active. Each week they use music, themes and props to explore and develop their skills.
Classical Ballet
We offer Classical Ballet classes with the ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance https://www.istd.org/home/) dance faculty.
Ballet classes enhance the skills of each individual dancer. However, students often have to work together collaboratively for joint success. Dance classes help to foster teamwork, cooperation, communication, and trust. They also help to build friendships and encourage bonding.
Girls and boys have the opportunity to attend weekly classes during term time and learn classical ballet technique. Groups and individual dancers are often entered into ISTD exams and all dance pupils have the opportunity to showcase what they have learnt in school performances - instilling a sense of pride and accomplishment..
Our ballet classes teach proper posture and coordination. From the moment a child stands at the barre, they learn how to engage their muscles, stand up tall, and take control of their bodies.
Jazz
Students can join our fun Jazz classes here at Moor Park. Participants have the opportunity to work their way through the ISTD Jazz awards syllabus Bronze, Silver and Gold. They work on developing flexibility, strength, co-ordination as well as learning lots of new skills, steps and routines. Students develop their performance skills and have the opportunity to share what they've learned at internal and community events.
