Sport

Sport is an integral part of life at Moor Park, and whilst we believe it is important to play to win, we also regard the taking part – the teamwork, learning to win and lose, the development of self-esteem and social skills, the healthy exercise and fun – as equally valuable.

We coach our pupils from a grass roots level, ensuring that they receive quality sports tuition from Pre-Prep upwards. By the time they reach Year Three all children will regularly be involved in team matches, thus benefiting from the experience of playing against other children of a similar ability level and the sense of unity derived from belonging to a team.

Matches are exciting and competitive events that take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday afternoons. Parental support is always welcomed and rewarded with a sociable 'match tea' both for the children (who eat with the host/hosted team) and parents.

As part of the curriculum, children at Moor Park participate in four games sessions each week, including match days, focussing on a major sport each term.

Michaelmas Term: Hockey (girls) and Rugby (boys)

Lent Term: Netball (girls) and Football (boys) and Hockey (boys)

Summer Term: Cricket (girls and boys)

In addition to our games timetable, PE is taught to all, incorporating swimming, gymnastics and activities to promote physical fitness, strength and coordination. With acres of sports fields, a floodlit astroturf, sports hall, swimming pool, all-weather cricket, tennis and netball facilities together with a squash court, our children enjoy a wide-range of sport.
